Excel at Statistics

Student: Thomas Moss

District/Region: Chignecto Central Region

Event: 2008 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Thomas is a student at North Colchester High School and his project, 'Excel at Statistics', investigated his own new method of statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel.

Over the past 2 years, Thomas has developed a new method of statistical analysis, which exploits modern computers and spreadsheet programs. This was tested on experimental data, and results compared to standard statistical analysis. It is not applicable where there is a small control group, but overall it is both powerful and versatile.

At his Regional Science Fair, Thomas won First Place overall and Most Original Project in the grade 10-12 category. Congratulations, Thomas!
