Janelle is a student at Northumberland Regional High School and her project investigated 'Yeast Metabolism under Aerobic and Anaerobic Conditions'.
'Yeast metabolism produce different amounts of carbon dioxide under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. The amount of carbon dioxide produced was measured under both of these conditions using bread yeast. It was also measured after doubling the sugar content and increasing the temperature. Each experiment was conducted three times for twenty minutes each. Aerobic metabolism was always faster and produced more carbon dioxide than anaerobic metabolism.'
At her Regional Science Fair, Janelle took Second place in the Intermediate category and fourth overall. Congratulations, Janelle!
